Joshua Alvarez Takes Stage at Milkboy

Tonight at Milkboy, singer-songwriter Joshua Alvarez kicks off a great lineup of indie artists that showcase the region’s talent.

Headliners, Summer Scouts, hail from Allentown and have made their mark playing all over the Lehigh and Delaware Valleys. Philly’s own Jackie Thousand, like Summer Scouts, is a female fronted indie rock outfit with talented musicians that broke into the scene through other bands. Gorgeous melodies accompanied by rock n’ roll is always a great formula.

Joshua Alvarez (veteran musician and one half of the Cinepunx podcast) has a different, but complimentary, vibe than the two bands that he’s accompanying this evening. Joshua is a huge fan of Billy Bragg and Morrissey… and it is certainly evident in his songs. On his brand new EP, his brand of punk fueled and pop inspired indie rock is both easily digestible and fresh. His songs range in tone and content, but all contain a specific feel to them. The fans of Jackie Thousand and Summer Scouts ought to get over to the show nice and early, as Joshua goes on first and all are sure to enjoy what he’s got to share.

I still have not gone to Milkboy. I don’t know what I am doing with my life. Ugh.
