Local legend Kurt Vile recently released his sixth solo album, b’lieve i’m goin down, performed on Conan, and announced a last-minute show at Johnny Brenda’s tomorrow, September 30th, that quickly sold-out. The record may be Vile’s darkest, but it is also filled with his quirky personality and effortless swagger. Most songs create a somewhat melancholy atmosphere, while the songwriting and delivery are clever and casually animated. The album’s hit single, “Pretty Pimpin,”stands out as more inviting than the following tracks, but b’lieve i’m goin down lives up to Vile’s reputation for creating inventive music with a sly demeanor.
