Drew Nugent, Philly’s resident Jazz master, is well on his way to reviving a forgotten time in music. The title of his forthcoming new album, I’ll Never Be The Same (out February 24th) echoes more the effect his thrilling, modern take on Hot Jazz classics will have on the listener as Nugent skillfully takes you back to a bygone time in music, to the thrill of speakeasies with the wail of brass and the tinkle of the piano. The album is Nugent’s first solo effort in ten years, and was produced and encouraged by fellow Philadelphian Peter Evans.
In this Rock On Philly video exclusive of the track, “Caretaker’s Daughter,” Nugent has not only put his original orchestration on the cheeky track, but takes it a step further in the video with the help of producer/director Katy Dolle and music manager and consultant Allison Shaw. The video features a diverse cast of characters, turning the story of forbidden desire to a secret celebration of love and togetherness. Watch and see for yourself in the exclusive video below!
Be sure to check out Drew Nugent’s Album Release show at La Peg Brassiere at Fringe Arts on February 24th. Tickets are $25 and available at the door!
