¡Feliz de Cinco de Mayo! The 5th of May is a joyous celebration of Mexican-American identity and the battle of Pueblo. Not only that, it has landed on a Friday, which should really be a holiday of a day to be honest. Go forth and listen to our picks for new tunes!

New Singles to Jam To

Imagine Dragons, “Thunder”

If there was a song that totally fit the bill of “jam to” I would definitely have to go with Imagine Dragon’s latest track released earlier this week. It’s catchy and bumpy with a great tonal shift; the video is dystopian-y and a little The Fifth Element in black-in-white. Listen and see for yourself below!

LCD Soundsystem, “Call The Police”

LCD Soundsystem have returned and are back to giving us more tunes–a double whammy of TWO new singles on one day! “Call The Police” is a long (seven minutes!), nuanced opus of a track with early R.E.M. experimental sounds going on. Listen below!

“American Dream”

Round two of LCD Soundsystem’s double whammy tracks. Setting the scene, this track is a dark, misappropriated slow dance at an eighties-theme prom. It’s dreamy and great, and you need to listen to it. Listen below!

Devon, “Heart”

The Philly songstress released the audio to Spotify earlier this week and we can’t get enough of this track. The lyrics, while sweet, have a strong determined edge to them with the chorus. Listen below!

Haim, “Want You Back”

After the success of last week, Haim has released the newest audio their latest single, “Want You Back.” The song is the answer to the pleading “Right Now”, but more hopeful and upbeat. Listen below!

Paramore, “Told You So”

Paramore is has teased us again! Their newest track “Told You So” is an energetic pop rush like “Hard Times” off of their upcoming album After Laughter. Where “Hard Times” was all about the eighties, the video “Told You So” is a visual treat for the Hitchcock fan. Listen and see for yourself below!

New Albums to Love

Blondie, Pollinator

Blondie returns to their New York roots does it justice on their eleventh studio album. You can get it here.

Vital Stats, TRASHSOUL

The fun-loving energetic Philly band has finally released their debut studio album and we’re definitely impressed. The band has honed their mowtown-meets-rock sound into an album that will make the dead start dancing. You can get it here.

POND, The Weather

On a much darker note, Australian psych rockers POND go the route of LCD Soundsystem of their eighties-infused electrorock, but on a much grander scale. Lyrics are politically-charged and songs like “30,000 Megatons” have the pace and likeness of an electronic funeral march…and could have easily gone south. Produced by Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker, this album is one for the books and you can get it here.

Motionless In White, Graveyard Shift

Motionless In White’s new album is here! The Scranton rockers have up the ante by maturing their signature sound and are giving us a huge mouthful of it. With a collab on “Necessary Evil” with Korn’s Jonathan Davis to standout track “Voices”, their initial single “LOUD” doesn’t quite do the album justice. Listen and get it here.

The Black Lips, Satan’s Graffiti or God’s Art?

If you want something a little creepy, a little nostalgic, look no further than The Black Lips’ newest album. The Black Lips’ give us their southern-tinged garage punk with a little dance of destiny. You get it here.
