Say Anything, Bayside Team Up in Philly

As someone who grew up on the tail-end of Myspace, to say that seeing Say Anything and Bayside together was my “emo kid” dream is an understatement.

That dream came true when their split-bill tour made a stop in Philly at the Electric Factory, making a Sunday night fun for the first time in history. To celebrate the tour both bands covered each other’s songs.

The two bands were joined by Reggie and The Full Effect, which was a treat for those who got there early. Bayside played shortly after, and the crowd’s energy could definitely be felt from miles away.

When Say Anything took to the stage the crowd was definitely ready for them. Though they’ve been touring for years, front man Max Bemis’s stage presence hasn’t changed much, in fact it’s iconic, and his engaging manor is part of what makes Say Anything’s shows so much fun. At one point during the set Bemis handed the microphone to the audience so that they’d be able to sing the first verse of “Every Man Has a Molly” but the first thing the crowd asked was “Where’s Sherri?!”, (Dupree-Bemis, Eisley front woman and Bemis’ wife).

In all the band sounded incredible, and played one of the best sets I’ve seen so far. If you’re trying to catch the tour they have a few dates left, but don’t fret, I’m sure they’ll be back in Philly soon enough.
