Rock On Philly’s Best Karaoke Spots

There are plenty of options for karaoke places in Philadelphia. I put together a list based on which day of the week has the best deals. Rock on!

Monday: Millcreek Tavern

This large 2-story bar in University City has downstairs karaoke from 10pm-1am. As a part of the Monday night special, there is all you can eat wings and endless beer for a $12 cover from 8pm-10pm. Get here early, eat wings and get loose with drinks, and watch Monday night football before taking the mic at 10pm.

Tuesday: Yakitori Boy

Yakitori Boy does karaoke every day upstairs during normal hours, but Tuesday specials make it worth the trip to Chinatown. $1 skewers and $3 Sapporo drafts. (I suggest the quail egg with bacon skewer!) Also, you can choose from English, Chinese, and Japanese songs, that you can perform either in the privacy of your own private room or with a crowd at the bar. You do have to pay for song slips and the private room, but if you’re looking for a special night out with friends, this is perfect.

Wednesday: McGillin’s Olde Ale House

McGillin’s has karaoke from 9pm-2am. You should get there early and catch some of their specials; their tacos are amazing and are only $1 for two. They also have really good drink specials, such as $5 wine and margaritas and $3 micro brew drafts. You have to tip the karaoke DJ if you’re putting in many songs, but the food and drink specials make up for it.

Thursday: Tavern 222

Tavern 222’s karaoke starts at 10pm and goes until close. It’s a fun little place on South St with affordable food and drinks. Their bartenders are super nice and the atmosphere is very welcoming. Don’t be afraid to belt out your best rock ballads!

Friday: O’Neal’s Pub

Head upstairs for karaoke from 10pm to close. The bar has a small neighborhood atmosphere with great drink prices. The other patrons tend to be nice people who won’t shun you for bad singing.

Saturday: West Tavern

Their karaoke dance party starts at 9pm and ends at close. This happens on Thursdays too, but it gets kind of crazy so it’s best to go there when you don’t have to worry about work the next day. West Tavern is a small divey bar where you should take advantage of the cheap drinks.

Sunday: Las Vegas Lounge

At Las Vegas Lounge, karaoke is very casual and friendly. There’s the usual crowd who comes around often, and usually only one or two bartenders, who are really nice and accommodating even while it gets hectic. Their special is $2.75 domestic draft which is good considering it’s free to sing there.
