Playlist Monday: The Phils

It’s that time of year again. Baseball is back and although the Phillies are off to a slow start, there is still plenty of time. The phightin’ Phils still have the talent, and who knows, maybe there’s still enough magic left in this core team to make it to the playoffs. For you baseball enthusiasts and historians alike, checkout the Chasing Dreams: Baseball and Becoming American exhibit at the National Museum of American Jewish History running now through the baseball season.  Here’s my playlist to get you pumped for the baseball season! (I’ve also included a link to the playlist in Spotify format at the bottom, but don’t skip out on the videos as they are classic).

It’s obvious that Cliff Lee and most of these Phillies still got it:

1. (Cliff) Lee Fields & the Expressions – “I Still Got It”

Perhaps Ben Revere should make this his at-bat entrance song:

2. John Fogerty – “Centerfield”

This one goes out to Jake Diekman who’s been pitching like a beast lately:

3. Jake Bugg – “There’s a Beast and We All Feed It”

Stumbled across this gem. Is that the boss pitching?…:

4. Bruce Springsteen – “Glory Days”

Red and white:

5. The War on Drugs – “Red Eyes”

A blazing new instrumental off of White’s forthcoming album. Definitely an at-bat entrance clip in here for one of the Phillies to pick up:

6. Jack White – “High Ball Stepper”

Found this great video (borderline NSFW) of one of my favorite up-and-coming bands. You’re in luck, cause they’re opening up for the Black Lips this Friday at Union Transfer:

7. Natural Child – “I Ain’t Gonna Stop”

It was suggested by one of my die hard Phillies fan friends that everybody’s favorite catcher Chooch should change his at-bat entrance song to Panama, as he is of Panamanian descent. I cannot disagree:

8. Van Halen – “Panama”

It’s no secret that the Phillies’ roster is a little on the older side this year. We just need to play like that 2008 team:

9. Japandroids – “Younger Us”

10.Harry Kalas – “High Hopes”
