May Music Discovery: Meiko

For the month of May, you’re getting all new music all the time! Stay tuned all month for artist recommendations you might not already know about!

I first stumbled across singer-songwriter  Meiko a couple years ago on Spotify where she was suggested to me when I was listening to hours of Sara Bareilles and Ingrid Michaelson. I was immediately captured by her girlish lyrics and calming voice. I listened to her album The Bright Side and was so impressed by how casual and pretty her voice flowed with her guitar playing.

Stuck On You” and “I’m Not Sorry” are so girlish and cute that it makes you want to just sit in the sun on a spring day with your favorite person. “Boys With Girlfriends” is from her self-titled album that talks about crushing on a guy who is taken. Her lyrics are extremely relatable to anyone who has ever been in love and completely relevant to any generation.

She has toured with the likes of Jewel and Eric Hutchinson, and has also performed in SXSW. If you’re into easy-listening, modern love songs, then check out Meiko. She impressed the heck out of me and I can’t wait for her new album which is yet to be titled.

You can pre-order her new untitled album here.
