Playlist Monday: The Roots Picnic 2014

The 7th Annual Roots Picnic is approaching, Saturday May 31st at Festival Pier, and Rock On Philly could not have Philly in its title without giving a shout out to our city’s original hip-hop ambassadors. Since their formation in 1987, The Roots have conquered the hip-hop world and risen to national fame through the production of consistently great albums and smart, fresh collaborations, not to mention the mutually beneficial residency at Jimmy Fallon’s late night talk shows.

Another great thing about The Roots is how they’ve never forgotten where they came from, and the Roots picnic is living proof of that. Despite their fame and working out of NYC, The Roots have never stopped promoting our great city.  Snag some tickets and catch another great lineup this year mixed with legends like Snoop Dogg and up-and-comers like Action Bronson who are sure to keep things entertaining.
