Monday Playlist: Brothers and Sisters

Last week went by quickly, starting with a recovery from an action-packed Memorial Day weekend right on through a welcomed short workweek. One of the topics discussed at work, besides the upcoming and ever-expanding Philly Beer Week, was Jamie Lynn Spears‘ release of her new EP “The Journey.”  And what a journey it has been for the Spears sisters. The conversation quickly turned into a discussion of some of the best sibling rock bands dating back from The Everly Brothers to modern day acts, such as Haim and First Aid Kit (who are playing Union Transfer on June 9th).

A ton of sibling musical groups immediately came to mind and a few surprises popped up after a little research, like Radiohead and Creedence Clearwater Revival (who knew they were fueled by sibling rivalry?). Needless to say, I found this to be a worthy playlist topic, so here’s to some brotherly and sisterly love.

1. The Jackson 5 – I Want You Back

2. Haim – Falling

3. The Everly Brothers – Wake Up Little Susie

4. First Aid Kit – Emmylou

5. The Felice Brothers – Frankie’s Gun

6. Wild Belle – Keep You

7. The Avett Brothers – Vanity

8. The Bee Gees – Jive Talkin’

9. Tegan and Sara – Closer (live on KEXP)

10. Heart – Crazy On You
