Bow Down To Beyoncé and Jay Z At Citizens Bank Park

On Saturday night, a truly amazing tour collaboration that everyone has been waiting for came true at Citizens Bank Park, featuring the majestic Beyoncé and Jay Z.

Not only are they the hottest couple in the business right now, but they also have a plethora of songs together that would call for an excellent show. As soon as On The Run Tour was announced, Philadelphia was one of the first cities to sell out all the seats in the house.

The lights went down and as America’s power couple emerged onto the stage, the crowd roared as they started off the show with “‘03 Bonnie & Clyde.” The throwback was on point as Beyoncé gave the sass and fierce dancing that the fans came to see while Mr. Carter worked magic with his rap power. “Upgrade U” was performed with such liveliness and it really shows how much the couple has grown to dominate in the R&B and hip hop category.

The theme of the OTR Tour was a couple living a life of crime and danger. Before the show started, the stage illuminated, “This is not real life,” giving the show a fictional touch. Even the fashion was keeping with the theme. At the opening, Jay Z sported a suit with a knitted hat and Beyoncé was in a black sparkly unitard with a glammed out ski mask. The videos between sets transitioned the mood and also hyped the entire show like a movie. There were many top-notch celebrities who played part in the video, such as Sean Penn, Guillermo Diaz, Emmy Rossum, and Rashida Jones. There were so many favorites packed into the set list that thousands of minds were blown that night.

Beyoncé’s animated facial expressions made her executions complete in every song, especially “Flawless” and “Why Don’t You Love Me.”  Jay Z’s playfulness came out in “Dirt Off Your Shoulder” and “Izzo (H.O.V.A.)” as he bounced around and made funny noises resembling Chewbacca.

Holy Grail” originally featuring Justin Timberlake was sung by Beyoncé and it was unbelievably good. If it came out as a single, it would be an even bigger hit than the original. “Drunk in Love” was performed with the same sexiness and chemistry seen at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards. Every move made by both of them were so loving that even the happiest couple cannot compare to the energy Beyoncé and Jay Z were engrossed in.

There were many personal touches including a very sentimental video segment showing home videos of Beyoncé and Jay Z’s wedding and Blue Ivy growing up. The crowd in its entirety was in awe of the adorable couple and their beautiful family. The screen then displayed “This is real life” at which point, the stadium lost it with the emotions.

The show ended with a mashup of both of their usual closing songs, “Forever Young” and “Halo.”

There was nothing that could be better than the On The Run Tour this summer at Citizens Bank Park. Rock on!

This would have been really awesome to go to, if I hadn’t been financially constrained. Maybe someday. 🙂
