Rock On Philly’s Your Perfect Weekend

Welcome back to Rock On Philly’s Your Perfect Weekend! This time around, the name of the game is diversity. You’ll be traveling through many different neighborhoods in Philadelphia, sifting through all sorts of musical genres and tasting a variety of great food and even better beer. You’ll attend block parties, swanky restaurants and some of Philly’s best music venues.

Friday-

Start your weekend off right with Happy Hour at the Visit Philly Beer Garden Series’ newest location, Independence Hall. This large, outdoors area boast all the shrubbery and seating you’ve come to expect from the Beer Garden Series and an impressive selection of draft brews. This week’s featured draft is Yards Philly Pale Ale.

In the evening, pop rock n’ roll group Abandon Kansas will take the stage at the Trocadero Theater along with Foxtrot and Get Down, Ten Cent Days and Motor Heart Man. These Kansas natives will be celebrating their first retail album release, and bringing clean guitar and spectacular vocals to the stage.

Saturday-

Today will be packed with music. From 11am-4pm, Rembrandt’s Restaurant and Bar in Fairmount will be closing down their block for one awesome block party. Featured brewing companies Victory and Troegs will be sponsoring the event that includes live music and a craft fair. Bands like The World at Large, Mumblr and A Day Without Love will provide the music. This event will support Rock to the Future, a non-profit organization that provides music education to Philadelphia’s youth at no cost.

Beginning at 8:30pm at the World Live Café in West Philadelphia, Philly Bloco will be joined by New Sound Brass Band for an eclectic night of musical entertainment. Philly Blonco is a 20+ piece group who perform everything from reggae to funk to samba. Don’t miss out on this interesting and eye-opening night of enjoyment.

Sunday-

Today marks the end of restaurant week in Northern Liberties, Penn’s Landing and Fishtown. You’ll be heading to Penn’s Landing for a Taste (pun intended) of some delicious eats. Taste, located on 2nd and Walnut, will be offering a three-course, gourmet meal for a measly 35 dollars. Choose from salmon, New York Strip or chicken. From an excellent restaurant like this, you can’t go wrong with any of these options.

Seattle natives The Presidents of The United States of America will be headlining Union Transfer tonight starting at 8pm. This rocking three-piece, formed in 1993, has been around long enough to know exactly what audiences want from a show. Their light-hearted, yet heavy songwriting always translates into one heart pounding show.

People don’t often think of Philly as a music city, but it totally rocks!
