Monday Playlist: Fall into Autumn

Before you get bummed out about summer ending, take a look at all the cool things happening in Philadelphia in the next couple months. Dilworth Park is now open in front of City Hall, the Midtown Fall Festival is right around the corner (October 4), and there’s some good eating to be had at this year’s last Night Market in Chinatown (October 2) and the Manayunk StrEAT Fest (September 28). Also, let me remind you that it’s officially Oktoberfest season. The Oktoberfest celebrations start this Saturday at Brauhaus SchmitzFrankford Hall, Morgan’s Pier, and the PHS Fall Festival at the Navy Yard. Embrace the change.

Bloktoberfest in the Graduate Hospital neighborhood and the Fishtown RiverCity Fest in Penn Treaty Park are both awesome options for how to spend your October 11th if you’re looking for some live music. The music lineup hasn’t been announced yet for Bloktoberfest but they’ve had some great bands play in the past, including Clap Your Hands and Say Yeah, the Walkmen, and Toy Soldiers. RiverCity Fest has a stacked lineup this year that includes Matt Pond, the Lawsuits, TJ Kong and the Atomic Bomb, Ginger Coyle, and the Levee Drivers.

Here’s a playlist to help you ease into Fall.

1. Benjamin Booker – Violent Shiver

2. Yo La Tengo – Autumn Sweater

3. Big Star – September Gurls

4. Drive-By Truckers – First Air Of Autumn

5. Sun Kil Moon – Among the Leaves

6. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers – Free Fallin’

7. Lucero – I’ll Just Fall

8. Neil Young – Harvest Moon

9. Ryan Adams – Kim

10. Bobby Womack – California Dreaming

Autumn Sweater is a great tune.

Speaking of Ryan Adams, giving the album a listen for the first time right now, good stuff, good, cool, 80s vibe without sounding corny.
