Monday Playlist: October Concerts

If you aren’t going to concerts and you live in striking distance of Philadelphia, you must not like live music. There isn’t a night this month without a concert. Awesome new venues are popping up everyday in this city and their diversity offers something for everybody. You can catch up-and-coming bands for between $10 and $20 at Underground Arts, Milkboy, Boot & Saddle, Ortlieb’s, District N9ne (formerly the Starlight Ballroom), the North Star bar, Johnny Brenda’s and the much beloved, but soon to be phased-out, First Unitarian Church.

Bigger shows can be caught at Union Transfer, the World Cafe Livethe Theatre of Living Arts, the Electric Factory, and the Tower Theater. Of course if you want to see legends like Neil Young and Fleetwood Mac, you’ll have to pony up for tickets at the Wells Fargo Center and the Kimmel Center.

October in Philadelphia is shaping up to be an excellent month for shows. Here’s a playlist to highlight some concerts you shouldn’t miss. Also, there’s a bunch of venues I’ve left out as we are blessed with an abundance in our fair city so be sure to drop your favorites in the comments.
