Monday Playlist: The Flyers

The Flyers are off to a slow start, but there’s still plenty of season left for them to right the ship. The orange and black aren’t short on offensive talent this year, led by Canadian star Claude Giroux and backed by plenty of depth with Vinny LeCavalier, Jakub Voracek, Sean Couturier, Brayden Schenn, and Wayne Simmonds.

The real question for the Flyers this year is whether their defense can hold up. The loss of defensive backbone Kimmo Timonen due to blood clots has put them in a tough spot. If only they could put general manager Ron Hextall back in goal.

The Flyers have more than a couple connections to music, starting with a brand new goal song by Showtek, which was hand-picked by Giroux, along with all the other classic songs that have been on repeat at the games over the years. A fond memory of mine is how they would play “Dude Looks Like a Lady” every time Jaromir Jagr and The Penguins would come to Philadelphia to play. There’s also a punk band called The Hextalls. And let us not forget that Trey Anastasio of Phish is a well-documented fan of the team.

Fans of hockey could head over to Fanduel to get involved in fantasy leagues and compete against friends and thousands around the country.

Here’s a playlist to get you guys ready for some ice hockey.
