Monday Playlist: The Sixers

The Philadelphia 76ers are set to start their season next Wednesday against the Indiana Pacers. They are in a rebuilding era so this season will undoubtedly have some ups and downs. General Manager Sam Hinkie has not wasted time cleaning off a slate to build a foundation from, by trading Jrue Holiday, Thaddeus Young, Spencer Hawes and Evan Turner for future draft picks.

Hinkie has also taken some gambles in his acquisitions of injured draft picks Joel Embiid, Nerlens Noel, and contractually locked-up Dario Saric. But sometimes you have to sacrifice short-term success and exhibit patience to build greatness (looking your way Phillies).

The good news is that Hinkie and Coach Brett Brown have some great young players to work with and have put the wheels in motion to build in the right direction. Michael-Carter Williams, Nerlens Noel, Joel Embiid and Dario Saric, as soon as he’s done playing in Turkey, could be the foundation of a future great team. Noel’s hair by itself could be a shot-blocking force to be reckoned-with.

Here’s a playlist to get you guys pumped for basketball. “Clap your hands, everybody, for Philadelphia, 76ers!”

I can’t wait for the 29th! There will be a lot of fun things to watch for, but most importantly, It will be Mr. Flattop, Nerlens Noel’s first NBA game. He was the 6th pick in the 2013 draft, probably would have been the first pick if not for a torn ACL. He has the potential to be a terror on the defensive side of the ball, with his quick hands and shot blocking ability. It will be fun to watch him develop this year.
