Sleater-Kinney Reunites, Announces New Album and Tour

Sleater-Kinney is back and better than ever!  The indie-punk trio  have announced a new album coming out January 20, 2015 with tour dates soon following next year, according to NPR and the band’s website.  Preceding their final major shows in 2006, including the 2006 Lollapolooza music festival, the band featuring Corin “Kissy” Tucker (vocals, guitar), Janet Weiss (drums), and Carrie Brownstein (guitar, vocals) announced an indefinite hiatus, with no explanation given.

In a recent interview with NPR, however, Brownstein (you may recognize her also from IFC‘s Portlandia) shed light on the hiatus, saying: “We drifted apart in order to concentrate on other elements of our lives and careers.  Sleater-Kinney isn’t something you do half-assed or half-heartedly. We have to really want it. And you have to feed that hunger and have the energy to…we have to be willing to push, because the entity that is this band will push right back.”

Now, eight years later, Sleater-Kinney is pushing right back with a new album called No Cities to Love, and has released a new single featuring Miranda July titled, “Bury Our Friends.”  Listen to the new track below!
