Frank Ocean Releases New, Ethereal Track

Could Frank Ocean’s long-anticipated return to music come sooner than we thought? On the morning of Friday, November 28th, Ocean released on his Tumblr page an untitled track along with its lyrics.

According to the Huffington Post, the track is reportedly titled “Memrise” and describes Ocean’s desire to visit a lover’s place. The brief, stripped down song begins with a hazy interlude with Ocean repeating what sounds like “moon rise.” It then continues to the first stanza where Ocean speaks like a spoken word performance. The second stanza acts more like a chorus and features Ocean’s signature ethereal voice. The most memorable lyric? “You can’t breathe if you’re dipped in gold.” He truly has a way with words.

Frank Ocean previously broke musical boundaries with the awe-inspiring 2012 album channel ORANGE. Here’s hoping this new track is just the beginning of Ocean’s new material.

The distorted sound and lack of a title are really interesting!
