iLLacrimo Deliver Powerful Self-Titled Debut

iLLAcrimo is a band based near Milan in Italy whose powerful, emotive music bears similarities to Evanescence, Lacuna Coil, and Halestorm. Made up of Davide-Kristof on guitar (the son of an influential Hungarian conductor) and Federica Falletta on vocals, the band is positioned to gain recognition on the national scene this year. With Federica’s mind-blowing vocals that seem to defy gravity and Davide’s signature blend of guitar, iLLacrimo is really something special.

The debut album was recorded with Matteo Cifelli at Fastermaster Studio in London who has worked with artists like Il Divo, Betty Poison, and Helene Fisher.

It opens up with “Burning Fields,” which makes an entrance with driving electric guitars. The song mellows out in the verse with delicate piano and Federica’s vocals and then build up once again to a mighty chorus.

“1000 Reasons to ?” is a beautiful ballad that prominently features piano, strings, and of course, Federica’s voice. The chorus is incredibly catchy with the lines: “1000 reasons to live/1000 reasons to die/ 1000 reasons to smile.” This is definitely a standout track for me.

Another standout track for me was “Chains in Gold.” There’s even a video that was released for it directed by Matteo Cataldo of MTV Italy.
