Allison Polans Returns with New Random Tea Session Video

Philly songstress Allison Polans has laid relatively low over the past year or so. The former papertrees writer and vocalist has been making her regular appearances with local soul outfit the York Street Hustle and as part of Aaron & the Spell, but in terms of playing her own music, she’s kept her breathy voice somewhat quiet.

With the release of a new video thanks to the Random Tea Session crew of Koofreh Umoren and Anthony Zagarella, Polans prepares to speak up again. The singer’s bell tones ring out clearly in the intimate videography that is a signature of the Random Tea Session series, and the addition of Nate Gonzalez on guitar and harmonies helps round out both the acoustics as well as the space of the Random Tea Room where the video was filmed. The overall result–with soft winter sunlight, muted tones, gentle instrumentation, and homey textures–is a pleasant musical and visual snack.

Fans hungry for more of Polans’s original material can catch her this Wednesday, April 8th, opening up Bourbon & Branch. Also on the bill will be Philly favorite Adrien Reju, featuring love songs from her brand-new album Strange Love & the Secret Language, as well as one-man-roots-band The Bones of J.R. Jones (Jonathan Linberry), who will be kicking off a solo tour run.

Tickets for the show are available online or at the door. Doors open at 8PM.
