Rock On Philly: Okay, where to begin? We are going to coin you as ‘musical superman.’ You sing and play the piano, cornet, trumpet, goofus, tea kettle, and mute-a-phone.

First of all, what is a tea kettle as a musical instrument? Can you tell us a how you started and what is your favorite instrument to play?

Drew Nugent: [For the first question,] [t]he tea kettle is actually an instrument that we as a jazz band came up with. It was our own concept. [As for how I started], [w]ell, I started out on piano at age seven and the violin at age nine. I’ve been singing my whole life. They say anyone can be taught how to sing. I don’t really have a favorite instrument. The trumpet is cool and a leader/multitude instrument.

I love everything about the 1920’s Jazz Age, I’m glad people like Drew Nugent are keeping it alive for new generations.

I do believe that Drew could play a shoe horn if he could attach a mouth piece to it ! I stopped by Vesper tonight hoping you were there ! Awesome music buddy !
