David Bowie’s “Blackstar” Video is Strange and Addicting

David Bowie needs ten minutes of your time. The eccentric superstar, who is never one to shy away from controversy, released a ten-minute video, featuring crucifixes and sacrificial offerings.

The sci-fi video begins with a woman, planet and a decomposing astronaut, followed by a blind-folded Bowie. Bowie sings with his eyes covered and holds a book with a black star on it, that appears to be some type of Bible. In true Bowie form, the video is both strange and addicting, from men on crucifixes to woman shuddering in a way that resembles having a seizure, it is nearly impossible to take your eyes away from the screen. The song almost sounds as if it is two different songs. The first five minutes highlight the very hypnotic vocals of Bowie, followed by Bowie singing the verses with his voice echoing in the background, “I’m a Blackstar.”

It has been two years, since we have received new music from Bowie. His last album The Next Day was released after his health scare and the end of his unofficial retirement.

Blackstar the album will be available on the 8th of January (his birthday!) and can be pre-ordered here.

What do you think of David Bowie’s ten-minute video? Sci-fi awesomeness or way too long and weird? Let us know in the comments!

BOWIE! I could watch him paint a house so 10 minutes of “I’m A Backstair” seems about right to me.
