Joanna Gruesome and Aye Nako Tear Up PhilaMOCA

No room on stage? No problem. On Thursday night, Joanna Gruesome performed an intimate set at PhilaMOCA, with two members of their five-piece noise pop band rocking out in the middle of the crowd. After a high-energy set of songs from their recent sophomore release Peanut Butter, guitarist George Nicholls passed his guitar to a fan in the pit, whose friends crowded around and plucked whatever strings they wanted on the guitar, making for a noisy, cacophonous, and exciting end to the show. Tourmates Aye Nako, an anti-capitalist, all-inclusive punk band from Brooklyn helped get the crowd warmed up, along with the other openers King of Cats and Mercury Girls.
