Plain White T’s Show Philly Some Love at The Trocadero Theatre

Plain White T’s made Philly one of those ‘American nights’ on Friday at the Trocadero Theatre.

Alternative-pop band, Beta Play, introduced the night with their electric energy. Philadelphia then welcomed University of the Arts‘ own Matt McAndrew. Playing songs like “Pins and Needles” and “Counting On Love,” Matt showcased the natural talent that scored him the position on NBC’s The Voice.

The crowd roared as headliner Plain White T’s took over the stage. Opening up their set with “Pause,” fans sang along happily to the melody. The pop rock band played a hybrid of older and new songs, including “Someday You’re Gonna Love Me” and “American Nights,” both included on their newest album American Nights, which was released earlier this year.

Performing an acoustic version of their number-one hit song, “Hey There Delilah,” frontman Tom Higgenson ad-libbed “Philadelphia” into the lyrics to show the city some love.  The band then ended the show with a bang, playing “Our Time Now” and showed Philly what they were all about.

ahhh so cool that an Uarts alum opened the show! I could cry real tears at the though of hearing “Hey There Delilah” live and acoustic with a little Philly love added to the already perfect song.
