Oh Wonder began as a project dedicated to releasing a song every month for an entire year.  South London natives Anthony West and Josephine Vander Gucht wrote, recorded and uploaded their album song by song to SoundCloud starting in September of 2014 with “Body Gold.” By the end, Oh Wonder’s first album reached over 13 million plays  without ever performing it live and no proper promotion. Their brand of minimalist R&B is predicated on stunning male/female harmonies set to ethereal classic piano and dramatic samples that are reminiscent of other UK acts like James Blake and The xx.  After signing to Republic Records and giving their debut a commercial release Oh Wonder hit the road for their first tour, selling-out an astonishing number of venues around North America including Philadelphia. Anthony and Josephine were kind enough to sit down backstage at Union Transfer to talk about how they first connected as songwriters and the renewed perspective gained from performing Oh Wonder’s music for the first time.
