Mad Decent Block Party Brings It Back Home

As if the trashcans filled with kandi, selfie sticks and hastily abandoned “water” bottles lining the Festival Pier perimeter weren’t indication enough, the writhing hoard of sweat-drenched 20-somethings made it known that Mad Decent Block Party was back in town in full force. In the midst of a nation-spanning tour, the Mad Decent crew brought it back to where it all began almost nine years ago. Philly DJs Swizzymack and Dirty South Joe, fresh-faced newcomer Slushii, block party alum Baauer and the man of the hour who started it all, Wesley Pentz (formally known as Diplo), along with many others took to the Festival Pier stage and gave Philly concertgoers eight hours of non-stop music.

Despite the nearly triple-digit temperatures and universally elevated heart rates, all involved relished the day’s offerings with the assistance of H20 and the oddly welcomed hosing-down courtesy of the security team.

After Diplo closed out the night, the crowd began to ever-so-slowly dissipate as they made their way home drenched in sweat from strangers and spilt beer with a hint of sand (much to the dismay of their Uber drivers). Until we meet again, MDBP.
