Best Weekend Ever: Superstar Friday!

With TWO international superstars playing shows in the Sports Complex this Friday, it’s shaping up to be a big weekend in South Philly. Get all the details on those huge shows, in addition to some of the other cool happenings this weekend!

Thursday 9/8:

Top Dawg Entertainment signee and Black Hippy collaborator ScHoolboy Q will be hitting the Electric Factory as part of his Blank Face LP world tour. Joining him will be Pro Era rapper Joey Bada$$, on what will be a can’t-miss night for Philly rap fans. Get tickets here.

Prolific indie outfit of Montreal will be bringing their elaborate live show to Union Transfer. In the past the band has been known to incorporate a hefty amount of theatrics into their set, with costumes, comedy skits, sword fights, and live horses all making an appearance. No matter what ends up happening, it will surely make for some good water cooler talk on Friday. Get tickets here.

Friday 9/9:

Adele will step onto the stage at Wells Fargo Center on both Friday and Saturday night to tour her record-breaking third album 25. Adele hasn’t stopped by Philadelphia since May 2011 when she played the Electric Factory (!!!), so this will be a big couple of shows for all the diehard Adele fans out there.  Tickets are obviously sold out through Wells Fargo’s site, but if you’re set on seeing a music superstar Friday night you can always check across the street…

In case Adele isn’t a big enough act for your liking, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band will be playing Citizens Bank Ballpark as part of The River Tour. The setlist for this tour seem to be getting longer and longer every night, which will definitely be welcomed by The Boss’ biggest fans. Luckily, tickets for this show are still available here.

Springsteen won’t be the only Jersey act in Philly on Friday, as punk rockers Titus Andronicus will be storming the TLA with special guests A Giant Dog. Tickets are available here.

Finally, The Lumineers will be headlining The Mann in support of their sophomore album Cleopatra, joined by “Electric Love” singer BØRNS. Tickets are sold out, but you can try getting tickets here or, if you prefer, try coping by listening to “Ophelia” on repeat.

Saturday 9/10:

Underground Arts will host Australian alt-rockers Violent Soho, along with Chicago garage punks Meat Wave and Dogs on Acid side project Yankee Bluff. The show is all ages, and tickets are available here.

Sunday 9/11:

Singer-songwriter (and Philly native!) Amos Lee will return to his hometown for a night at the Academy of Music. A few seats are still available here.
