The Stone Foxes Rock Out Hard on a Sunday

Thank God It’s Sunday! was the sentiment last Sunday night when bluesy rock band The Stone Foxes visited Philly for a high-energy set at Johnny Brenda’s.

After an explosive set by three-piece rock band ill Fated Natives (a local must-see), The Stone Foxes took the stage and started immediately into the call-to-action “Fight” from their latest release, Visalia. Throughout their set they played songs old and new from their vast catalog, including fan favorites “Cold Like a Killer” and “I’m a King Bee.”

Many of the members kept switching their spots in an impressive version of musical chairs, switching from guitar to bass, harmonica to drums, violin to vocals, and more seamlessly.

The crowd went wild for their infectious slew of hard rock tunes filled with blues and soul. The Stone Foxes ended the night with a 3-song encore that included an intimate, acoustic version of “If I Die.” The band travelled off the stage into the crowd, which gathered and joined in on singing the chorus: “”If I die tonight, well that’s alright.” While it’s not meant to be taken literally, the song created the perfect sense of camaraderie between band and audience. What a great Sunday night it was.
