Best Weekend Ever: Minus the Bear, Zedd, Land of Talk

Spring is in full swing and the weather is looking amazing this weekend. If you’re in need of encouragement to get out and check out some of the shows hitting Philly this weekend, look no further!

Thursday 4/26:


Peter Hook & The Light are coming back to Philly, this time at Union Transfer. Joy Division and New Order fans have to check this show out, as they will be playing the entirety of the “Substance” albums. Tickets are still available here.


Durand Jones & The Indications play World Cafe Live upstairs. Durand Jones has a voice that will melt your soul into a pile of good feelings. Their sound is dramatic and their live shows are just as lively. Tickets can be purchased here.


Friday 4/27:

Brian Fallon and the Howling Weather are performing a sold out set at Union Transfer. Brian Fallon, the lead vocalist and guitarist of The Gaslight Anthem, has had a successful solo career with the release of his solo album Painkillers. There are a few tickets left for resale here, so grab them while you can.


Zedd. Zedd has had many Top 40 hits in collaboration with artists like Ariana Grande, Alessia Cara, and Maren Morris. The DJ set will be perfect for dancing your Friday night away after a (hopeful) win by the Phillies. Tickets for the game and concert are available here.


Land of Talk lead by powerful singer Elizabeth Powell is coming from Montreal to a sold out Johnny Brenda’s. Their album Life After Youth released last year showed them trying new things and excelling at it. The show will open with a performance from Tall Friend from Philly.


Saturday 4/28:


Seattle’s Minus the Bear is performing at the Electric Factory. Their show at Union Transfer last year with Beach Slang was sold out. This time around, they are celebrating the anniversary of the release of Planet of Ice. Get your tickets here.


They Might Be Giants sold out TLA. 36 years into their career, they have released their 20th album, I Like Fun, this past January. The album title speaks for itself as they continue to create bangers that are worth many plays. There’s a few resale tickets available here.


Center City Jazz Festival heretakes over Philly for the seventh year. The ticket to the event give you access to any of the 6 participating venues with over 20 performers. Check out the bands and get tickets .


Unknown Mortal Orchestra from New Zealand is performing at Union Transfer with Makeness. Their latest release fresh off the press is Sex & Food. The new album features songs with sounds that you’d recognize immediately as UMO and also speaks to a generation fighting for change. Tickets can be purchased here.
