New Music Releases: Anderson .Paak, Playboi Carti, Lil Peep and More

It’s been raining all week in Philadelphia and there is no end in sight. This isn’t the type of weather you go out and enjoy, so stay dry and let these new tracks keep you warm in the comfort of your own home.

New Music To Rock To:

Anderson .Paak, “Bubblin”

On Thursday, Anderson .Paak went on Zane Lowe’s popular Beats 1 show to debut this song. It’s his first single since the super popular, “Til It’s Over” that was featured in the Spike Jonze directed Apple-ad starring FKA Twigs. He also mentioned that he has over 65,000 songs “in the vault” and none of them are feature assisted. So get ready.

Playboi Carti ft. Lil Uzi Vert, “Shoota”

“Mumble Rap” for better or for worse has been a term thrown around the hip-hop community a lot lately. These two artists are probably more attached to the term than any other rappers out right now besides Lil Yachty. Even though the term has a negative tone attached, this song is a great reason why it shouldn’t. Maybe we should just stop using the term overall. This track is also produced by Philadelphia native Maaly Raw, a name the hip-hop community as also been growing familiar with.

Lil Peep, “4 Gold Chains”

Lil Peep died last November due to fentanyl and Xanax overdose and it left fans shook. Some of his peers even vowed to slow down or quit Xanax all-together knowing it’s one of the primary drugs responsible for Peep’s death. It’s said that there is still some music of his to be released and this is the first full-length song we’ve received since his death. It’s one of the slower more experimental songs we have heard by him. Even though his sound was effective it was still developing into something better.

Skee Mask, “50 Euro To Break Boost”

This young Munich based producer has a talent of making truly unique sounding techno music. He just released his second full-length project Compro for Illian-Tape, a German label that prides themselves on using techno as an introduction to incorporating breakbeats. Before signing to this label he went under the SCNTST moniker.

Jay Rock ft. Kendrick Lamar, “Win”

Jay Rock’s last album came out in 2015, it’s been a while. “Win” displays why new music from him is still needed even though we haven’t heard from him often in the past. His Top Dawg Entertainment teammate Kendrick also stops by to show that TDE is still the best rap label around right now.
