New Music Friday: The 1975, Yung Bans, MadeinTYO and More

The weather is finally starting to heat up in Philadelphia, the first day of SIPS was this week and a rap beef that occupied the whole music industry last week, has finally cooled down. Here is some new music to listen to because what’s good weather without good music?

New Music To Rock To:

The 1975, “Give Yourself A Try”

This Manchester based band hasn’t released an official single since their last album I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet unaware. The song finds the band battling with depression and anxiety, struggling with pain that fame brings. It’s a welcome surprise and hopefully a sign that the band has been working on even more new music.

Yung Bans, “Mean Mug”

This Atlanta based rapper is getting better and better. He’s released a string of self-titled EP’s on all streaming platforms in recent months and even though the songs aren’t particularly new to avid followers of his, he hasn’t been loosing much steam. Last week he released “Bag” along with Future from the Superfly: Motion Picture Soundtrack and on “Mean Mug” he takes a similar effortless approach.

MadeinTYO ft. UnoTheActivist, “Good Gas”

MadeinTYO was born in Tokyo and raised in Atlanta. He gained most of his popularity thanks to his hit “Uber Everywhere”, but he’s been dropping consistent hits since then as well. On this track he joined another underappreciated appreciated Atlanta based rapper UnoTheActivist to deliver a mellow jam that showcases their potential.

A$ap Rocky ft. Skepta, “Praise The Lord (Da Shine)”

Rocky’s latest album Testing is getting mixed reviews from the music world. Maybe the criticism is deserved but some of it probably has to do with the fact, fans thought they were getting his album last year. On this track he taps the Tottenham based MC to deliver some rapid fire, spiritual bars. This isn’t the first time these rappers joined forces and as long as this is what the finished product sounds like, it won’t be the last.

Which tracks will you be rocking to this week? Let us know.
