VIDEO: Mike Matteson At His Finest With “Ain’t It Funny”

On August 3rd, which was both National Watermelon Day and Grab Some Nuts Day, Mike Matteson decided to celebrate by releasing his latest single, “Ain’t It Funny”.

Written about a time in Matteson’s life where it seemed as if he was up against the world, “Ain’t It Funny” shows off Matteson’s more melodic, lo-fi side in comparison to his prior releases. Contributing to the song is Stephen Burdick, the mastermind behind burgeoning Philly grunge act The Stone Eye. Burdick produced the track in addition to lending some backing vocals.

The corresponding video to the track, directed, shot, and edited by Nick Camarata, tackles the subject matter presented in the track with Matteson’s signature brand of humor.

Overall, “Ain’t It Funny” echoes similarities to indie/garage acts such as Wand, JEFF the Brotherhood, and early Oberhofer, and is arguably one of Matteson’s best songs to date.
