ARCHPALATINE Live Friday Night: Meet “The Artist Formerly Know as Palatine”

Archpalatine‘s bio reads:

The futuristic Philly-funk, soul glam band Archpalatine, is fronted by vocalist + keyboardist Derek Anthony Wilson. The group recently underwent a dramatic name change adding “Arch,” to what once was Palatine. Like a bishop becoming an archbishop, this is an evolution in the quartet’s timeline. They are now Archpalatine, yet, Wilson continues to keep his personal nick-name of Palatine. Eric Allenson, Anthony Pompey, and Ben High back their leader live, clad in flamboyant capes, face paint, moon shoes & marching band attire straight out of Freddie Mercury’s wardrobe.

It’s hard not to be intrigued by this sublime little teaser. Funk? Soul? Glam? Capes? Facepaint? Moon shoes? Derek Anthony Wilson and his crew sound like quite the lively bunch… but seeing is truly believing. While most stripped down and intimate, you can get a small taste with their Radio 104.5 Live at 5 in-studio performance that includes one original and a Muse cover:

Friday night’s show at the Dawson Street Pub in Manayunk will be the official album release party for their new album Amalgam and will also feature great local pop singer-wongwriters Lia Menaker and Jackson Craig. There is rumor that all of the artists will join forces on stage for a song or two, so it’s sure to be a fantastic night.

Previously featured on XPN’s The Key and the Black Tribbles Podcast, you can now check out for yourself exactly why the Philly area is buzzing about Archpalatine.
